Article On The New Citizenship Amendment Bill By Chris Watters, An Immigration Laywer

It is clear from the Chris Watters article that much clarification is still needed.

An important question to be answered is whether any provision in the Citizenship Act stating that a person can lose their citizenship, is lawful. It may be invalid because the Constitution states in Sec.20 that "(No) citizen shall be deprived of citizenship".  Perhaps this is a question that will end up in the Constitutional Court? Remember - Sec.2 of the Constitution states that "(T)his Constitution is the supreme law of the Republic; law or conduct inconsistent with it is invalid, and obligations imposed by it must be fulfilled".
